Fat-Loss Troubleshooting

Bathing suit season is creeping up on us and with so many people dieting and working out to get ready, there’s bound to be some people that run into problems so today it’s fat-loss trouble shooting.

1. Do more strength training - When it comes to weight-loss many people are quick to get on the treadmill. It is true that cardio training will burn more calories during exercise but weight training not only builds more muscle but also causes a dramatic increase in metabolism right after your workout. Studies show an intense weight-lifting session can keep your metabolism revved up for hours, even days.

2. Keep a calorie journal – I had a new client that would drink 3 beers every night. Because he wrote it down in his journal, I naturally eliminated this from his diet and he began losing weight easily. Then all of the sudden it stopped and he actually started gaining weight back. We couldn’t understand what was happening until I found out he was replacing all his beer with juice. As you can see, juice has even more calories than beer.

3. Change your exercise program - When a client of mine is on a fat-loss program, they often get really annoyed because I’m changing their workout every two weeks. Remember, when it comes to fat-loss, adapting to an exercise is bad. When you adapt to a workout, you burn less calories. Change it up.

Question from viewers:

Amber
Are artificial sweeteners bad?

Haley
My husband works out less than I do but he can still outrun me? Do men naturally have more endurance?
