Trimming Down the Top problem Areas on the Body

1. Under the arms - this is a huge complaint that many women have. To tighten up your back arms you need to work your triceps, a group of three different muscles that extend the elbow. You must lift fairly heavy weights to activate all three heads of the triceps.

2. Bottom and hips - You Glutes or butt muscles have potential for incredible power and strength. Doing light weight, high rep exercises like fire hydrants do not even come close to activating the strong white muscle fibers that make up this muscle group. Instead focus on lunges, squats or dead lifts and stick to a 10-12 rep max. When you can do more, add weight and buns of steel will be yours.

3. Shoulders – Your body is already programmed to store fat in your shoulders last so getting sculpted, attractive shoulders is easy. Try this. Boxers have great shoulders and they hardly lift weights. Punching is also a great cardiovascular benefit.

4. Lower Abs I get this question a lot because your body is quick to start storing extra fat below the naval area. This problem is more diet related. Be patient if you’re exercising properly and watching your calories. This is usually the last area to lose the weight. It’s also important to note that this area often frustrates even top bodybuilders and even professional athletes so don’t despair.

A couple of gyms are now advertising state of the art, fitness machines. Are these better than free weights?

The answer is absolutely not. Without a doubt, just about every top trainer in the country believes that when it comes to developing strength, muscle, range of motion and stability, good old fashion free weights are far superior to any machine. If you still don’t believe me, consider this. Professional football, hockey, basketball, and baseball leagues have an unlimited amount of money to spend on their gyms. What do they use? Free weights almost exclusively, because they work and they would happily change if there was something out there better but there’s not. Free weights have been used for over 100 years and they have withstood all the fads and gimmicks.

My husband and I have date night every Saturday night. Since we just started a diet, we are cooking at home now. I have the whole menu planned except for dessert. Can you please, please help me with a healthy dessert, preferable chocolate?!!

Of course I do!! Super fast and simple!

Chocolate Cream Pie in a Wine Glass
Mocha flavored granola cereal (found in the health section)
Sugar free, fat free instant chocolate pudding
Sugar free whipped cream
Sliced almonds

In a plastic, assembled wine glass (or a real one), pour in a small amount of the granola cereal. This will serve as the “crust” of the pie. Make chocolate pudding and put in a gallon size Ziploc. Cut out corner and pipe pudding on top of “crust”. Layer bit more of the granola cereal. Next, add the whipped cream and garnish with a sprinkling of sliced almonds. Voila!
