Super foods for Ultimate Health
Blueberries - They’re packed with antioxidants and phytoflavanoids, and they’re also high in vitamin c and potassium. Note when searching for fruits and veggies, the darker they are, typically the higher antioxidant content. I cannot think of anyone that could not benefit from this awesome superfood.
Omega 3 rich fish - Omega 3’s are most common in cold, fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines. Omega 3’s have been shown to decrease heart disease risk, help arthritis, and even maybe reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. They have even been linked to reduced depression. I’m not a big fish fan but as a health professional I cannot deny the health benefits. Since I have started to include more fish in my diet I feel better. Try it.
Eggs – They are without a doubt the most perfect protein on earth. Your body uses more protein from eggs than any other source, which is why they are a favorite among fitness athletes around the world. Don’t be afraid of the yolk either. They contain over 40% of the nutrients. Most experts agree that it is not dietary cholesterol in food but saturated fat and Trans fats that effect blood lipid profiles. Eggs are very low in saturated fat and have zero Trans fat. Don’t let out of date dietary myths prevent you from this super-food.
Spinach
1. Eating cooked spinach more than twice a week cuts the need for cataract eye surgery in men by half, according to new Harvard University research.
2. And including at least two servings a week in your diet halves the odds of macular degeneration (a leading cause of blindness), says the National Eye Institute.
3. People who eat at least one serving of greens, including spinach, each week are 20% less likely to develop colon cancer, according to Italian research.
4. Because it's high in vitamin K, spinach also helps build stronger bones, lowering the risk of hip fracture from osteoporosis as much as 30%, suggests a joint Harvard-Tufts study
As nutritional science advances we are finding more and more just how much control over our health we really have. The foods we eat hold the secret to a long, healthy life.

How important is it to breathe correctly when working out? I find myself holding my breath sometimes. But when I do think about it, I'm not sure when I'm supposed to be breathing in or blowing out. Does it really make a difference?
