Top tips for getting and staying lean
It’s tough to see people train real hard in the gym to hardly get any results. Here are 4 key tips that you must do if getting lean is a top goal.
1. Use combo exercises - Get away from the arm curls and triceps extensions. These exercises work very small muscle groups and burn very little calories. Instead go for multi-muscle and combo exercises like the lunge press, squat thrusters or more advanced moves like the split snatches.
2. Lots of Cardio – Often times people don’t want to hear this but if you want to lose fat and get lean then do moderate- intensity cardio 30 min a day, everyday. Make your cardio harder too, just like weight training. Always strive to go harder or increase your time. If you do this you will get so lean so quick you’ll kick yourself for thinking it was more complicated than that.
3. Grocery shop correctly - We all know eating healthy is super important to being lean so I won’t preach it again. Here’s a simple, down to earth bit of wisdom a coach gave me years ago and it works. When at the grocery store stay on the outside isles. Hit your produce, meats, diary and grains and go home. The closer you get into the isles, the more packaged, processed and poor quality foods you will find.
4. Eat at home - Eat breakfast and dinner at home at least 90% of the time and as for your lunch - pack it.
Plug these tips into your health plan and you have a for sure ticket to leanness.

Like many "desk jockeys" I have made a New Years resolution to get fit and lose weight. Toward that goal I have started a walking program 3 days per week. I would like to add strength training as well. What do you recommend that isn't too time consuming?

That yogurt was my favorite! I had no idea it had that much sugar! Please tell me there's a healthier alternative.
