Topic:
Staying healthy and safe during the winter blast.

This weekend many Oklahomans are bunking up with friends and families. Right now many people can’t go to work, school or home because of power outages and often times when you change a person’s routine or environment, depression and frustration can quickly set in but there is a drug free, natural cure to your cabin fever blues and it’s exercise.

A deck of cards workout- If you’re over at mom’s house and you couldn’t bring the stair climber try this great workout. It was invented by a world class wrestler. Beth will demonstrate.

Get out of the house- Now make sure your neighborhood is safe first. I know there are still a lot of downed power lines so being careful. If it’s safe, bundle up and go for a walk. You’ll get some fresh air and your body burns a tremendous amount of calories trying to keep warm. Also remember you can’t catch a cold from the cold. In fact many experts believe being cupped up in a crowded house increases your chance catching something.

Be aware- I have had many clients who jog regularly in neighborhoods complain about how dark they have been lately. Unfortunately, there are some bad people that might take advantage of this situation. It’s important to note that statistically crime often increases during blackouts and such. Don’t get scared, just be prepared. If you must run at night I recommend caring some mace with you or going in a group.

Question from viewers:

Carol

Jason
