Keeping Fit While on the Road
One of the quickest ways for a person to lose momentum on an exercise program is traveling. Many hotels have a workout room but it’s been my experience that often times a hotel workout room consists of two pairs of rusty dumbbells and a broken treadmill. Let’s go over some key tips to keep you on your program.
1. Bodyweight Calisthenics:
Don’t be confused. Doing push-ups, jump squats are a form of weight lifting but instead of using external weights you’re just lifting your bodyweight. Try this muscle building circuit you can do in your hotel room.
20 jump squats
50 twists punches (fast)
50 knee raises
15 Push-ups
Rest 1 min then do entire circuit 2-3 more times
2. Resistance tubes:
The real drawback to calisthenics is that it limits you on pulling exercises. A remedy for this is to purchase some resistance bands. Kyle will demonstrate a few pulling exercises.
3. Get a kitchen:
This is a secret my wife and I have used for years. If were going to be staying in a hotel for more than a few days we try to get a room with a kitchen. This allows you to find a local grocery store and still prepare healthy foods and stick to your diet better. It will also save you a lot of money. Stock up on fruit, veggies, bottled water, unsalted nuts, and eggs.
Question from viewers:
Amanda :
I am pregnant. Is it safe to lift weights?
Wesley:
I love to bow hunt but it requires a lot of strength and flexibility especially in my upper body. Are there exercises that will help?
